Permanent file storage. Pay once. Store forever.
Long Drive stores files on the Arweave blockchain with a single upfront payment — no monthly subscription, no account fees, no expiry dates.
Upload for FreeTruly permanent
Arweave is a decentralized network funded by an endowment designed to preserve data for centuries — not until you cancel a subscription.
One-time payment
Pay once when you upload. There are no recurring fees, and your files never get deleted for non-payment.
Private by default option
Encrypt files in your browser with AES-256-GCM. Your password is the key — the platform cannot read your data.
Verifiable on-chain
Every file gets a transaction ID and permanent URL that anyone can verify on the public Arweave network.
01What permanent storage really means
Most "cloud storage" keeps your files only as long as you keep paying. Miss a payment, and your data can be locked or deleted. Permanent storage inverts this: you pay once, and the storage itself is the product.
Long Drive stores files on Arweave, a decentralized network where miners earn rewards to preserve data over the long term. Your files do not depend on one company staying in business.
02How it compares to ordinary cloud storage
A typical cloud service charges a monthly fee for the lifetime of your account. Over 10 years, storing 10 GB can cost hundreds of dollars — and you still do not own the storage.
With Long Drive, you pay a single fee based on the current Arweave network rate. Files under 100 KB are stored free forever, and new users receive 10 MB of free lifetime storage to get started.
03What can you store?
Personal archives: family photos, letters, passports and certificates you never want to lose. Professional records: contracts, invoices, audit files. Creative work: final renders, source archives, project backups.
For sensitive material, enable browser-side encryption before uploading — the file is encrypted with your password and cannot be read by anyone else, including the platform.
Permanent storage FAQ
Is it really forever?
Arweave is designed for century-scale data preservation through a prepaid storage endowment and mining incentives. No service can guarantee absolute forever, but permanent networks are structurally different from subscription storage.
What happens to my files if Long Drive disappears?
Your files live on the Arweave network, not on Long Drive servers. As long as the network exists, anyone with your transaction ID can retrieve them.
How is the one-time price calculated?
The price follows the current Arweave network rate (shown live on our calculator). Try the Arweave Storage Cost Calculator to estimate any file size.
